India has reached the first position in the ICC T20 rankings after a long wait of six years. Earlier, on 3 May 2016, the team became number one in the T20 rankings. The captain at that time was Mahendra Singh Dhoni. After Dhoni, Virat Kohli became the captain of the team, but he could not make the team number-1 under his captaincy.
