IPL News – In this news release, Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli and fast bowler Navdeep Saini have been fined for breaching IPL’s code of conduct during a match against Lucknow Super Giants. Kohli has accepted the Level 2 offense while Saini has been penalized for a Level 1 offense.

The match between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2023 was quite controversial. RCB won the match by 18 runs, during which their former captain, Virat Kohli, was seen in an aggressive mode. An argument broke out between him and newcomer Navin ul Haq, which continued even after the match ended. These three players were found guilty of violating IPL rules. Kohli and Gambhir had their match fees cut, while ul Haq was fined 50% of his match fee.

In an IPL media release, it was stated that “A 100% match fee penalty has been imposed on Gautam Gambhir, the mentor of Lucknow Super Giants, for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. Gambhir has admitted to committing a Level 2 offense under Article 2.21 of the IPL Code of Conduct.”

According to the media release, during the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Virat Kohli, the Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman, was fined 100% of the match fee for violating the IPL code of conduct as per section 2.21 of the code.

After the match, there was a verbal altercation between Kohli and Gambhir, which was resolved with the intervention of Amit Mishra, RCB captain Faf du Plessis, and LSG assistant coach Vijay Dahiya. Later, Kohli was seen talking to LSG captain KL Rahul as well.

LSG fast bowler Navin-ul-Haq was also fined 50% of the match fee for violating the IPL code of conduct. During the post-match handshake, Navin-ul-Haq and Kohli had a heated exchange. As per the IPL media release, “During the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow Super Giants’ bowler Navin-ul-Haq has been fined 50% of his match fee for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct.
