Our Campaign – Ek Mutti ( There is always a cure for hunger it not for the virus) Karma our destiny foundation is an NGO that has been working very closely with the up slums and for their upliftment. A handful of corporate employees took the vow to give back to society and started their journey. We work for the underprivileged section – Ragpickers, Daily wage earners, widows, beggars & even transgenders, especially from the slums, from lighting hunger to child labor, Awareness programs on sanitation hygiene, Menstrual Awareness, Child Molestation, Marital Rape & Domestic Violence. From Employment to health camps to free education.
Ek Mutthi is to help all those daily wage earners & laborers who have been Badly hit by the lockdown due to COVID 19. we have been receiving calls from these people from slums and cannot avoid their hues & cries. These are the people from slums who used other options they moved forward their native villages on foot. We begged each one of them to remain in their “Kholis” (small rooms) in the slums. we distributed cooked food for them for a while, but this was not working. So, finally, we asked all our wishers to contribute and bought rations for these families.
We made packages for each family which contained 5kg rice, 2 kg atta, 1 kg potatoes, 1 Kg onions, 1 bottle of oil and 2 kg of daal. (the cost of 1 such package is rs 600. We distributed them on a daily basis as per the request we received from different slums by following all hygiene measures & continuously update them about safety measures & plead them to remain at home without thinking. our karma reached various slums in sector 62, 71 & Vikas enclave (opposite gaur city 2) to distribute rations to the needy. we will be repeating the same after the week. we still receive calls and the list never ends.
