Hundreds of lawyers, angry with the indecency of the Kotwali Phase II policemen, reached Police Commissioner Alok Singh on Tuesday, when a large number of policemen stationed them stopped them on the road. Angered by this, the lawyers sat on a mid-road dharna near the Reality Hospital. After about three hours, a delegation met Additional Commissioner of Police Luv Kumar. After this, when the assurance of investigation was received, the lawyers returned. Now on Wednesday, the lawyers in the court will make further strategy.

Recently, the policemen of Kotwali Phase Two had sexually assaulted a lawyer during the checking. Since then, the lawyers are angry with the working style of the police and are demanding the suspension of Kotwali Phase Two police station in-charge Sujit Upadhyay, Sub Inspector Arvind Kumar and other policemen.

On Tuesday, hundreds of lawyers, led by District Bar Association president Manoj Bhati, were going to Sector-108 to meet the police commissioner in this connection. A police force was stationed around the office. The lawyers were stopped by barricading at some distance. Simultaneously, the roads leading to the Police Commissioner’s office were closed and traffic was diverted. The lawyers sitting on the dharna raised slogans demanding registration of FIR and suspension of Kotwali Phase II in-charge Sujit Upadhyay and other policemen.

Lawyer angry because not able to meet commissioner

On Tuesday, the lawyers had reached the police commissioner to complain. Lawyers say that at first we were not allowed inside. Lawyers had to sit on the road amidst the heat and humidity. When the delegation went to the police office, they could not even meet the police commissioner there. This has caused great resentment among the lawyers.
