On Rakshabandhan, Komal, a resident of Yameen Garhi of Mussoorie, had a dispute with her husband Sonu for going to his maternal home. Enraged, Komal took out petrol from the bike tank parked outside the house, poured it on himself and set it on fire. When she ran outside the house, Sonu and the surrounding people somehow saved Komal, however she got scorched till the fire was brought under control. The relatives admitted him to Dasna CHC, from where he was referred to Delhi AIIMS.
Komal has a maternal uncle in the village of Muradnagar, Kumheda. She was asking Sonu to go to her maternal home on Rakshabandhan but Sonu refused to leave saying that the work was done. Sonu said that she should go herself. When there was a dispute between the two, in anger, Komal went out of the house with a bottle and took out the petrol by taking out the pipe from the bike. After this she went inside the house and put it on herself and set it on fire. Sonu and his mother Kamlesh put out the fire by pouring water on Komal and admitted her to the hospital.
Police station in-charge Ravindra Chand Pant said that the woman has suffered 10 to 15 percent burns. The woman is being treated. In the case, action has been taken against husband Sonu under the section of breach of peace. The husband has also given a complaint to the police to implicate and defame the wife. The police is investigating the matter
Incident caught on CCTV
When Komal reached to extract petrol from the bike parked outside the house, it was caught in the CCTV camera installed nearby. Komal is seen going inside the house after taking out petrol from the bike. The CCTV footage went viral.
