Ghaziabad – Cotton left in stomach during caesarean delivery, sought response from CMO
The consumer forum has summoned the CMO office in the matter of asking money for delivery three years ago and leaving cotton in the stomach during caesarean operation. The delivery of the woman took place in the United Hospital.
ACMO Dr. Sunil Kumar Tyagi said that on August 6, 2019, Manju, wife of Neeraj Kumar, who lives in Gangotri Vihar, Kavinagar, was admitted to the United Hospital. Describing the situation as serious, the doctor asked for a caesarean delivery. Rs 15,000 was also demanded for this. There was also a threat to refer the patient if the money was not paid. Husband Neeraj told that he gave the money and Manju’s Caesarean delivery was done in the hospital.
Even after regaining consciousness, Manju was having pain in the stomach, due to which she was referred to GTB on August 10. After investigation there, a lump in Manju’s stomach was told. After treatment, he was discharged on 17 August. After a few days, there was a severe pain in the stomach again. On 12th December, cotton was removed from the stomach after operating at a nursing home in Govindpuram. There the doctor told that cotton must have been applied to stop the bleeding during the caesarean delivery and later the doctor forgot to remove it.
Neeraj complained to Kavinagar police station and CMO. Neeraj complained to the consumer forum after no action was taken on the complaint. Dr. Sanjay Teotia, CMS, United Hospital, says that the report has been sent to the consumer. Action has been taken against those who were found guilty during the investigation.
