The brother of the married woman, resident of Aurangabad, gave a letter to the SP Crime and told that her sister was married about 19 months ago to a young man living in Kithor police station area of Meerut. He also gave dowry in excess of his status in the marriage. The in-laws were demanding a car and a plot in dowry.
The victim was being harassed for not fulfilling the demands. In the past, her brother-in-law tried to rape her after finding her alone in her in-laws’ house. When she resisted, he scuffled with her. When the victim complained to other in-laws, the accused assaulted her, accusing her on the contrary.
After this, the brother-in-law, along with other relatives, made him drink acid. When the condition deteriorated, the maternal relatives took him to Meerut Medical. Even there, the doctors have refused to treat him due to his serious condition. SP Crime has assured the victim’s family of action after conducting a fair investigation.
