Delhi | England fast bowler Jofra Archer has made a comeback in the mega auction for IPL 2022. According to Cricbuzz, Archer has listed his name for the mega auction to be held in Bengaluru on February 12 and 13, which the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed to the franchises on Tuesday.

Archer himself has kept his base price at Rs 2 crore. The BCCI, however, has made it clear to all franchises that the 26-year-old pacer’s participation in this year’s IPL is doubtful considering his current injury condition. His name has been added to the auction because the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has informed the BCCI that he is set to play in the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

The BCCI has written a letter to the IPL franchises to provide them with a list of 44 new names, which have been added to the auction register on the request of the franchisees. “The ECB has registered Archer for auction in view of possible participation in 2023 and 2024, as he is unlikely to participate in IPL 2022 due to his current injury,” the BCCI said.

Surprisingly, the name of West Indies legend Chris Gayle is also not there in the latest update. Some of the franchises for whom Gayle has played in the past are understood to have urged him to be included in the auction. However, Gayle has decided to stay away from IPL this year. Meanwhile, requests were made to recall Ben Stokes and Mitchell Starc as well, but to no avail.
