Why Comedian Munawar Faruqui’s Bangalore show canceled

A senior police officer told PTI on condition of anonymity, “Yes, we have refused permission. He will not perform in any public program today.” According to the information, Faruqui had planned to perform ‘Dongri to Nowhere’ on Sunday evening. The event was organized in Bangalore by Vishal Dhuria and Siddharth Das of the Curtains Calls event in New Delhi

Munawar wrote, ‘Today Bangalore show got canceled. We had sold more than 600 tickets even in the midst of such vandalism. Few months back my team had approached late Puneet Rajkumar sir for charity which we were supposed to do with this show now. We have decided that we will not use the word charity of any kind for this show. Putting me in jail for the jokes I didn’t say and canceling my shows, which has nothing to do with it. This is very unfair.

The show was well-liked in the rest of the country, irrespective of religion. Our show has got a censor certificate, but still 12 shows have been canceled due to threats in the last two months.
