Uttar Pradesh News | Senior Samajwadi Party leader and four-time MLA from Varanasi Shatrudra Prakash on Friday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. Shatrudra Prakash, a member of the Legislative Council from the Samajwadi Party, became an MLA for the first time in 1974.

BJP state president Swatantra Dev Singh and party’s joining committee president Laxminarayan Bajpai got Prakash the membership of the party at the BJP state office located here. According to the release issued by the BJP, senior MLA Shatrudra Prakash, who has joined the BJP, has been one of the prominent faces of the socialist movement. He is counted among the founding members of the Samajwadi Party.

Shatrudh Prakash said that I would like to express my gratitude that today I have become an ordinary member of BJP. From 1963 till today, I have done politics of non-Congress. Today is the death anniversary of Raj Narayan. Even today two streams had emerged, one was of BJP and one was of socialist movement. I have to say today that the socialist movement has lost its way. Today Kashi Vishwanath Dham has emerged as the identity of India.

He said that earlier districts in the state were identified with mafia. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the beautification of Kashi Vishwanath Dham. It is an unimaginable job. I congratulate and thank PM Modi and CM Yogi Adityanath for this. SP’s MLC Shatrudra Prakash from Varanasi had praised the BJP for inaugurating the Baba Vishwanath Corridor. Since then the discussion of his joining BJP had started.
