It is alleged that pictures of many famous Muslim women have been uploaded on this app, on which derogatory remarks are being made. His pictures are being dealt with. These women also include a woman journalist whose pictures are being shared with objectionable content.
Mumbai Cyber Police started investigation
Reacting to the development, Mumbai Police said that it has taken cognizance of the matter and the authorities concerned have been asked to take action. An official said that the Mumbai Cyber Police has started a probe into the objectionable material.
‘Bulli Bai’ App works like ‘Sully Deals’
One social media user said, “The app ‘Bullibai’ works just like ‘Sully Deals’ did. Once you open it, you will randomly see the face of a Muslim woman as Bulli Bai. displaying it as it is.”
A journalist, who is one of the women named in the app, said Muslim women have started the new year with a “feeling of fear and hatred”. Last year, two FIRs were registered by Delhi and Uttar Pradesh police in the ‘Sully Deals’ controversy, in which photographs of Muslim women were misused, but no coercive action was taken against the perpetrators.
Sulli Deals was an app built on the open source platform called GitHub. In this, social media profiles of Muslim women were uploaded with photos, especially from Twitter. In this, pictures of more than 80 women were inserted with their names. Surprisingly, their price was written with these photos.
The ‘Bully Bai‘ app is built on GitHub. It is a hosting platform where open source code is stored. But now there is tremendous resentment among people about GitHub and such apps being built on it.
