Ghaziabad | Constable changed his name to second marriage by sending wife to maternal home

In Sabota village of Jewar in Gautam Budh Nagar district, a case of changing the name to a second marriage has come to light after beating the first wife and sending her to her maternal home. The police had registered a case against seven people including the husband on the complaint of the first wife. Her husband is a constable in the army.

Kirti Sharma, a resident of Vrindavan Road, Mathura, was married on 23 July 2007 to Niranjan, a resident of Sabota, Jewar. Niranjan is a Havildar at the Military Headquarters in Delhi. Kirti alleges that after marriage she was harassed for dowry. Kirti Sharma filed a suit in the court of Judicial Magistrate Mathura.

The court on 20 November 2017 ordered Kirti Sharma’s husband Niranjan Sharma and family to keep Kirti Sharma in her in-laws’ house with all facilities. After which Kirti started living in her in-laws’ house from July 2, 2019. It is alleged that after a few days he was beaten up and thrown out of the house. Meanwhile, the accused Havildar, along with the family members, changed his name to a girl from a village located near Khair in Aligarh and got married for the second time.
