Delhi News | The Delhi government on Saturday de-registered over one lakh 10-year-old diesel vehicles, leaving their owners with the option of either getting electric kits fitted in them or selling them in other states. A senior official of the Delhi Transport Department said that in the coming days, the registration of petrol vehicles older than 15 years will also be canceled. He said that the number of such old petrol vehicles is estimated to be more than 43 lakh, which includes 32 lakh two wheelers and 11 lakh cars.

The Transport Department has warned that if a 10-year-old diesel vehicle or a 15-year-old petrol vehicle is found running on the roads, it will be confiscated and sent for scrapping.

The Delhi government has canceled the registration of more than one lakh diesel vehicles which are ten years old, the official said. He told that now he has two options to get the electric kit fitted in his vehicles or sell it in other states after taking NOC.

A senior official of the Transport Department said that the registration of vehicles older than 15 years will be canceled in the coming days. He said that the number of such old petrol vehicles is estimated to be more than 43 lakh, which includes 32 lakh two wheelers and 11 lakh cars.

A circular of the Transport Department issued on December 29 said that all departments of the central government and the Delhi government, public sector units and autonomous bodies have been advised to remove or reinsert unregistered vehicles owned by them.
