Delhi – The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has busted an inter-state racket of alleged kidnapping, trafficking of newborn babies and buying and adopting babies in exchange for money from biological parents or poor parents. While the kingpin is still absconding.
A police officer said that this gang was involved in the smuggling of more than 50 babies. He told that the gang members used to buy children from financially poor families and sell them to childless couples for a huge amount.
The gang would purchase newborns from poor families & sell them to the rich. They would buy a baby for Rs 1-Rs 2 lakhs and sell them for Rs 3 lakhs-Rs 4 lakhs. Shockingly, they successfully convinced both buyers and sellers that it was legal: Crime Branch DCP
This gang had developed a unique methodology, they used to identify pregnant women from the poor class and deal with married couples and as soon as the child was born, it was taken away from the parents and the members of the gang He kept the child with him. They would simultaneously identify multiple potential buyers and circulate the picture of the child among all the brokers through social media and later sell the child to the couple who agreed to buy the child.
