Narada Case – It is a big sting operation by Mathew Samuel, who was also the former managing editor of Tehelka, He was the main person who heads the Narada Sting operation in 2001.
The sting operations were administered over two years and were to be published in Tehelka magazine. However, Mathew Samuel, who conducted the sting operations, quit Tehelka and launched the Narada portal
In the 52 hours of footage photographed by Samuel and his colleague Angel Abraham around 2014, many prominent politicians resembling Members of ParliamentMukul Roy, Saugata Roy, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Prasun Bannerjee, Suvendu Adhikari and Sultan Ahmad, and state ministers Madan Mitra, Subrata Mukherjee, and Firhad Hakim, and Iqbal Ahmed were seen accepting alleged bribes in the form of wads of cash in exchange for doing unofficial favors for Impex Consultancy Solutions floated by Samuel himself. One more person named Sujay Bhadra alias Shantu, the then PA of Member of Parliament Abhishek Banerjee who is the nephew of Mamata Banerjee was also seen in the video together with Karan Sharma, a close aide of Abhishek Banerjee.

The CBI on April 16, 2017, filed an FIR against 12 Trinamool leaders for criminal conspiracy and corruption.
In January this year, the CBI sought sanction from Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar to move against Subrata Mukherjee, Firhad Hakim, Madan Mitra, and Sovan Chatterjee.
The footage was released just before the 2016 Assembly elections and put the ruling Trinamool Congress on backfoot.
Subrata Mukherjee is a TMC candidate from the Ballygunge constituency in the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections.
Firhad Hakim is serving as Cabinet Minister of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Government of West Bengal. He also served as the Mayor of Kolkata which is the third Megacity in India. He is a member of the All India Trinamool Congress party.
Sovan Chatterjee (born 7 July 1964) is an Indian politician who is belonging to the All India Trinamool Congress. He is the former Mayor of the city of Kolkata, the capital of the Indian state of West Bengal. Chatterjee had been a Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) councilor since 1985.
What happen now in Narada Case?
CBI arrested Transport Housing Minister Firhad Hakim; Panchayat Minister Subrata Mukherjee; MLA and former minister Madan Mitra and former Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee.
The arrest comes days after West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar granted consent to CBI for filing a chargesheet against the four accused and sanctioned prosecution against them.
The four were picked up from their residences in Kolkata.
